5.02.2008 FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS
Ben Case contested Eric Utsch over 5 rounds at the Friday night fight series. The decision was given to his opponent and came as an utter disappointment. Over the 5 rounds, Ben successfully countered, delivering the higher scoring strikes of roundkicks and knees to the body compared to punches and legkicks. Thank you to the other trainers, fighters, and qualified judges who witnessed or reviewed the bout to reinforce Ben indeed won the fight. Unfortunately, the inconsistencies and errors in judging muayThai in the USA is still widespread.
Much luck to Ben on his trip to train and fight in Thailand this summer before beginning graduate school at NYU this fall. Ben has given more to our camp than we can ever thank him for. In just a few months shy of 3 years, he has fought at a high level, winning nearly all of his fights and turned that ring knowledge into a passion to teach the next wave of fighters at Sit-Kangmongkorn. Through it all, he has been a pillar of support and a true friend. We'll miss you, but you'll always be part of this family.
3.30.2008 IRON TIGER FIGHTS
Mark DeLuca took on Dave Hale for the WMF 147 lbs. North American Title. To say the fight was an incredible battle is an understatement. Dave relied on punches and Mark on kicks to have a nice mix in styles At the end of the 5 rounds, Dave won the decision. Mark fought a hell of a fight at a weight class above his norm and showed his power and technique even as the smaller fighter. To paraphrase Kru Alin, these are 2 of the top 5 in North America.
3.29.2008 Samart & Matee Seminar

12. 31.2007 THAILAND TRIP
Mark DeLuca and Ben Case both fought at the IFMA/WMC World Championships in Bangkok. Representing the USA in the A-class, both had tough draws against powerhouses in Kazahkstan (Mark) and Ukraine (Ben). Both Mark and Ben fought hard for all 4 rounds losing close points decisions, but showing that the USA can compete in the elite division.
Stephen Strotmeyer fought for the X-1 title (60 kg) in Grand Sport Arena/Hua Hin Stadium against Khamlayok Fairtex. Khamlayok is a former Omnoi Stadium champion, as well as a ranked fighter from Lumpinee and Rajadamnern, the veteran of over 250+ bouts. While Stephen gave up considerable experience, weight and age (10 years Khamlayok's senior), he took the fight despite the odds. It was a tough test, with the bout being stopped in the 2nd round, with Khamlayok scoring 2 knockdowns and the ref waving it off. But we live and train with the motto: "If you choose to fight, you may lose...If you choose not to fight, you have already lost." Mai pen rai.

Congratulations to Mark DeLuca on his 5th round TKO victory at MAYHEM X. Mark's right hand scored an 8-count in R4 and followed up with the stoppage in R5. Fantastic fight against Justin Greskiewicz, and "fight of the night" between 2 technical, Thai-stylists with tremendous heart and respect for each other. Both fighters demonstrated quality roundkicks, teeps and punches and good clinchwork. Two of the USA's up-and-coming professional fighters.

For 2 novices, they put on a good 3 rounds with heavy clinch-fighting.

Ben fought Daorord and TKO'd him in the 4th after a vicious clinch assault and knee to the head. Congratulations to Ben Case on his 2nd Round TKO victory to win the USKBA Light Heavyweight Title! Marcus Fisher won a Unanimous Decision with a strong technical performance, controlling the bout with teeps, round kicks and strong clinching. Jenny LaCava was not awarded the victory in her bout, although she had clearly dominated half of the fight from the clinch, scoring with knees to the body repeatedly and following up with strong round kicks, solving the awkward style of her opponent. Under proper Thai scoring, she would be the winner. This was the Best Battle of Brooklyn to date with solid fighters participating.
